I had been looking for a while for a Bluetooth GPS for my Windows Mobile phone. I knew nothing about GPS’s. But here where my requirements based purely on spec:
1. MTK 32 channel
2. Long battery life
3. Bluetooth
4. external antennae.
5. mini-usb style charger
6. Also solar would be cool?
I really did my research, but unfortunately most of the stuff is a little out of date:

I wonder how expensive and easy it would be to buy a Windows Mobile device that has a camera and hook it to a robot chassis and drive it using a wireless controller and roam through the house videoing.

I was all hyped up and this must have effected others as well, because I received this from a friend:
I just read an article in IEEE Spectrum on MS's robotics toolkit. I thought this interesting since it has a visual programming language to drive the robots (I've seen similar before…) and I thought it might be useful to look at how this handles calculations/decisions processing.
Well during the install…this occurred.
Installer wanted to installed .net 2.0 … go ahead, I know I'm bit out

An alternative way to do .Net and Java Interop. MonoDevelop has pretty good support of a Java->.Net compiler.

It has been a while since I have done serious C++ work. I am getting back into it a little (including Java and JNI ). I was shocked and impressed when I ran across this presentation from Dr. Bjarne Stroustrup:
Says 3 million users (can not round to the nearest million)

MS Open Source .Net |

A recent announcement that Microsoft is Open Sourcing .Net got slashdotted (http://developers.slashdot.org/developers/07/10/03/1626209.shtml). There has been speculation from personal blogs (http://weblogs.asp.net/fbouma/archive/2007/10/04/don-t-look-at-the-sourcecode-of-net-licensed-under-the-reference-license.aspx) to industry pundits (http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2191754,00.asp). But I think the most insiteful posts were from Microsoft’s Open Source website - Port 25 (http://port25.technet.com/archive/2007/10/03/releasing-the-source-code-for-the-net-framework-libraries.aspx), which states that the debugger will be able to step through the code. As well as Miguel de Icaza (Novell’s Open Source .Net implementation) blog post (http://tirania.org/blog/archive/2007/Oct-03.html).
