Windows Mobile Security White Papers
Right To Left By host on 5/29/2007
Microsoft’s Device Management and Security (DMSec) team recently produced a series of security booklets for MEDC 2007. There are 2 booklets available online: Security Considerations for Windows Mobile Messaging in the Enterprise (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/solutionaccelerators/mobile/maintain/SecEntMessaging/d592e80a-035e-4291-b05d-c8b8dae71b80.mspx?mfr=true) Security Model for Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows Mobile 6 (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/solutionaccelerators/mobile/maintain/SecModel/aff7cf7f-0e11-4ef4-8626-f33bd969b35a.mspx?mfr=true)

HP Printing Mailbox
Right To Left By host on 5/29/2007
I heard about a great gadget from the DailyGizWiz (http://www.twit.tv/DGW): HP Printing Mailbox for use with Presto Service (http://www.amazon.com/Printing-Mailbox-use-Presto-Service/dp/B000JERC8A) I think this is a great idea for people who want instant digital picture access but are not all that computer savvy. Having said that, the service is cool but I do not envy the service provider. How do they handle spam? I would hope that it is not going to start printing whatever spam happens to make it through!!

Global Gadgets / Widgets
Right To Left By host on 5/28/2007
I heard of WidSets (https://www.widsets.com/index) from the treo central TreoCast. I thought it was a great idea. I understand why they chose Java, but I am so frustrated with J2ME support especially on SmartPhones! I thought it would be so cool to create a product like this for Windows Mobile! Then I ran across this: http://on10.net/Blogs/laura/vista-gadgets-running-on-windows-mobile/ What a great idea. Too bad that this does not support Windows XP, but I want to implement a gadget or widget like Yahoo! Widgets (http://widgets.yahoo.com/) and have it work on Windows (XP, Vista, Mobile, XBOX), WII, Mac OS and Linux. Why not??? Miguel??? Mono??? Help me!!!!

Microsoft Math 3.0
Right To Left By host on 5/25/2007
I was wondering if Microsoft would create a Math Calculator (http://www.microsoft.com/math/default.mspx) tool. MS is really making headway with TabletPCs in education. Too bad I was thinking of doing something similar in .Net. Unfortunately, MS probably will not support Linux, MacOS via Mono. Oh well. And WHERE IS THE WINDOWS MOBILE VERSION!!!

Right To Left By host on 5/25/2007
Timeline is a DHTML-based AJAXy widget for visualizing time-based events. It is like Google Maps for time-based information. Below is a live example that you can play with. Pan the timeline by dragging it horizontally. http://simile.mit.edu/timeline/examples/religions/jewish-history.html

Icon Designers Chat about best practices
Right To Left By host on 5/25/2007
The guys at 37 Signals are pretty amazing. I have met several engineers or marketing comm’s who think they can create icons and graphics just fine. I usually create them in the dev process but never spend too much time on this because it can make a difference on a well designed product. http://www.37signals.com/svn/posts/368-fireside-chat-icon-designers-part-1-of-3
